New Year update

Winter in Patagonia / Shad Season 2025 / New Spring Programs

We had a great year of fishing in 2024 and I am extremely grateful for all the guests that came to fish with us throughout the year. 2025 brings with it some exciting changes and a lot of new angling opportunities, both in North Carolina and abroad.

I am starting out this new year with a little change of scenery. I am down in one of the most untouched trout fisheries of the world in southern Patagonia. I'll be guiding down here for the remainder of the winter with an operation called Rumbo Patagon. The fishing in this area is really nothing short of incredible, and when you pair it with some of the most stunning views I have experienced it's hard to imagine a better place to spend a winter. Our program is centered around fishing the region's spring creeks on foot, some of these rivers are less than 10' wide yet still hold some large trout. Large dry flies and streamers are the name of the game down here- some of the hopper eats we have seen this season are just incredible. While the fishing is excellent, the local food and the nearby Torres Del Paine national park really make for a complete experience. We have had a couple cancelations for this season opening up a few spots for an excellent price- the weeks of Feb 15th through Feb 22nd and Feb 22nd through March 1st have openings. If you're interested in joining us down here this season shoot me an email!

While guiding in Patagonia has been an exciting new adventure, I still am looking forward to coming back home to our annual Shad season. The Shad fishery in North Carolina for the month of March rivals anything I have seen while traveling the world fishing. It's a local tradition that fly anglers should really experience. For 2025 we've added some new fisheries into the mix as well. Folks that are looking to target American Shad specifically will be interested to see some of the new water we have access to. We also have some areas that allow us to target not only Shad but Striped Bass and Largemouth Bass at the same time. The addition of the jet boat has really opened up a lot of new water for us. As always, we will be providing stellar lunches on the boat and this year we've added the addition of a hot shore lunch option for our full day trips. We still have availability through the month of March so give a shout to get on the books for the best time of the year!

In addition to expanding our Shad program, we are also expanding our options for our Spring Striped Bass season. Over the past few years of guiding the Roanoke River for Striped Bass I have found that it is not always the best place to fly fish. It is certainly fun throwing heavy sinking lines and pulling up high numbers of hard fishing fish from the depths, and we all know how great it can be to get on a topwater bite. But I have been searching for water that is better suited towards really fly fishing- lighter lines, smaller water, but the same hard pulling fish we love. After a lot of exploring over the past few seasons we have found some really fun water that I believe our fly fisherman will really appreciate.

We're looking forward to another great year of making memories on the water with our guests!
