March has come to a close and the spring pollen is back in force. With April beging our spring Shad season will be coming to a close over the next few days. We have had a great season taking folks from all over the country out to target these amazing migratory gamefish.

We were fourtunate this season to have relatively stable water levels and a decent tempeture trend. Both the Roanoke and the Tar Rivers provided some great fishing. The Roanoke's Hickory Shad run was as strong as ever this season. Anglers enjoyed high catch rate days with some quality sized Hickory Shad as well as the occasional American Shad that have become ever more present in the Roanoke River. Despite our usual spring floods on the Tar we were still able to hit some great water windows and find some fantastic American and Hickory Shad fishing in the main river and it's tributaries. We still have a few more weeks of American Shad fishing left in the upper river for those hard-core Shad anglers.

Both Capt. Caleb and our new addition Capt. Caiden had great seasons showing anglers of all skill levels what the Shad run is all about. It really is hard to overstate what an increadible resource we have here in Eastern North Carolina. Our rivers continue to provide us with healthy runs of fish year after year and plentiful angling opportunities for anglers both novice and experienced. We're always sad to see the end of this short season, but the Striped Bass and Largemouth fishing right around the corner keeps us excited for what's to come.

Over the next two weeks we will be in transition from Shad over to both our migratory Striped Bass and pre-spwan Largemouth Bass seasons. Our early scouting has yeilded some great results with Stripers moving steadily through the river systems and Largemouth starting to occupy their pre-spwan haunts. All our guides have availability for Striper season from April 15th - May 10th and I have limited availability for small water Striper and Largemouth from April 10th through the end of May.
I was also honered this month to sit down with Benton Moss from Twin-County Media and talk about our opperation here in Eastern North Carolina and my travels abroad. You can check out the episode in the link below.
Thanks to all that came out for our 2025 Shad season- I'm looking forward to seeing everyone on the water for our upcoming Striper and Bass season!
Cheers,
Will
