Sorry for the lack of reports everybody, it has been a crazy start to our Spring fishing. We have had some excellent days Shad fishing this March and it just keeps getting better. We have been very fortunate to have great weather and water conditions so far this season. It looks as though that trend should continue into next week with just enough rain to keep the river levels right. We have been targeting both Hickory and American Shad this season and it has been one of the best size class of fish I have seen. We have landed a few 4-6 lb American Shad on the fly rod last week and countless hickories to keep busy all day long. We still have a few weeks of great Shad fishing ahead of us. The shad aren't here for a long time but they’re here for a good time! If you’ve been thinking about a Shad trip it’s time to get it on the books before these fish head back to the ocean. I have some availability left through March and April.
We’re now starting to look forward to Striper and Large Mouth Bass season. This is one of the best fisheries we have around. Whether you want to rack up the numbers with the spinning rod or trophy hunt a big fish on the fly, we have something for you. Our season is getting rolling on these fish now and will continue through May. Dates at ‘The Rockfish Capital of the World’ (Weldon, NC) are still available but typically do not last long. This year we are happy to accommodate group trips with more than one boat and can arrange lodging for those who are interested. Give me a call or shoot me an email for more information.
Happy Spring!
Capt. Will
