Winter Striper/Spring Update

It may be cold but the fishing has been hot! Winter Striped Bass fishing is in full swing and the cabin fever is over.

We have been beginning to target Striped Bass on the lower ends of our coastal rivers over the past few weeks. We have found a lot of fish beginning to move into the rivers and more are showing up each day. We have been fishing out of a new 19' Jones Brother Bateau skiff, it is a great vessel for running around the lower rivers with plenty of room to fly fish. We will be running trips to target these lower river Striper through February. It's a great place to really learn the intricacies of targeting gamefish on big water with heavy sinking lines. You can also have a great day catching these fish on light tackle, where they still put up a heck of a fight. The lower ends of our rivers are absolutely stunning and home to abundant wildlife and expansive cypress swamp.

With spring fast approaching we are preparing for our busiest part of the year; the peak shad and striped bass migrations. We will be offering float and powerboat trips from the end of February through April for Shad. We will be up in Weldon, NC again for the legendary Striped Bass spawning run from April 15 - May 15th. The Weldon migration is one of the best places in the world to catch a Striped Bass on the fly rod and our dates have already begun to fill very quickly.
